__________
WHAT's NEW
__________

- Revamped (couldn't resist the pun) those you turn into vampires - they will now have a reference alias applied so you will see them feed more often; you can prevent my mod from having those you turn feed, use my MCM or the console command "set VampireVictimsWillFeed to 10000" (to turn this feature off)
- BV is now compatible with the Blood Thirst mod - those you turn will be able to use his scripts

- Adjusted Mist Form so you will no longer be able to hear your footsteps while it is active

- Added in an option to "Combat Bite" staggered opponents; your health must be greater than theirs and the bite requires 50 stamina to perform. If you stagger your opponent you must activate them (E key by default) for the bite option to appear. The combat bite doesn't count as a feeding, but you will drain some of their health away depending on your level.
- You can disable combat biting if you wish, use my MCM or the console command "set VampireCombatBite to 10000" (to turn this feature off)

- Adjusted the option to disable the feed timer when using blood points - it would sometimes glitch and you'd lose some points when feeding after a few days.
- Reduced the volume of the sound that plays when you go outside during the day
- You can now completely disable the sound, message, and blurred screen you see when going outside during the day, use my MCM or the console command "set VampireGoingOutside to 10000" (to turn this feature off)

- Adjusted the blood spray that can sometimes occur when feeding: no blood will spray out of Sleeping, Fear's Embrace, Seduced, or Thrall victims; blood WILL spray out of the previous victims if you kill them though (i.e. you've overfed more than once in 24hr); once you acquire Amaranth, all feedings kill the vampires you feed on (blood will spray); blood will spray out from Sneak Feed, Force Feed, and all Vampire Lord feeding victims (VL lacks finesse)

* Please check the compatibility section first.

- I strongly recommend using NMM to install and uninstall this mod
- If you want to install manually, make certain you backup the following files from your --Data--Scripts--Source folder: PlayerVampireQuestScript, PRKF_VampireFeedBeds_000CF02C, and VampireSunISMDEffectScript
- If you want to install manually, PLEASE copy over all source files and ONLY one .esp file

IF UPGRADING

Please follow these steps if upgrading from a previous version of my mod:
(don't worry, you'll never lose your progress)

1) Rest/wait for 24hr in the game - this will allow any NPCs you have fed upon, or used Seduction or Fear's Embrace on, time to recuperate.
2) Use my MCM Troubleshooting and Cleanup page and click on "Reset/Clear Better Vampires Mod" or use the "Reset Better Vampires" menu option by using the {Customize or Reset Better Vampires Mod} power (found at the bottom of your powers menu).
3) Exit my MCM to have the mod reset.
4) Use my MCM Troubleshooting and Cleanup page and click on "Reset Sanguinare Vampiris" or use the "Reset Vampirism" menu option by using the {Customize or Reset Better Vampires Mod} power (found at the bottom of your powers menu).
5) Exit my MCM to have your vampirism reset.
6) Save your game (it must be a real save, not a quick save).
7) Exit the game.
8 ) Uninstall the old version of my mod (completely delete it from the Skyrim\Data and Skyrim\Data\Scripts folders). I use NMM to remove mods, but you can use my "Remove Better Vampires" batch file if you installed manually (it is much faster).
9) Start the game and load your saved game from step 6 - ignore the message about missing content.
10) Now make a new "clean" save without my mod (not a quick save).
11) Exit the game.
12) Download and install my latest mod version using NMM.
13) Load your "clean" saved game from step 10.
14) Customize my mod with the MCM, customization power, or console commands.
15) You were infected in steps 4 and 5, now you must wait 3 days for your disease to run its course and you will become a vampire at stage 1 (fully fed).

NOTE: If you are using the "RaceCompatibility for Skyrim and Dawnguard" mod by TMPhoenix, you have to follow the instructions on his page on how to make a clean save in conjunction with his mod. If you don't, my mod will not function properly.

IF INSTALLING FOR THE FIRST TIME

1) Delete any and all other vampire modification mods first, if you remove them later on some of my scripts will be removed and replaced with vanilla Skyrim versions.
2) Install my mod (make sure it is installed after any appearance or customized race mods, say yes to replace any and all files).
3) Use my MCM Troubleshooting and Cleanup page and click on "Reset Sanguinare Vampiris" or use the "Reset Vampirism" menu option by using the {Customize or Reset Better Vampires Mod} power (found at the bottom of your powers menu).
4) Customize my mod with the MCM, customization power, or console commands.
5) You were infected in step 3, now you must wait 3 days for your disease to run its course and you will become a vampire at stage 1 (fully fed).

* See the Troubleshooting section below if things seem screwy. If you do not get the {Customize or Reset Better Vampires Mod} power at the bottom of your Powers menu, installation was not successful.

UNINSTALLATION

- I strongly recommend using NMM to install and uninstall this mod
- If you want to uninstall manually, make certain you replace the following files from your --Data--Scripts--Source folder with your backed up originals: PlayerVampireQuestScript, PRKF_VampireFeedBeds_000CF02C, and VampireSunISMDEffectScript
- If uninstalling manually, please remember to delete my files from your --Data--Scripts folder.

TROUBLESHOOTING

If you are curious if another mod will work with mine, please check it using the Creation Kit or ask the author of the mod if they change either of the following main files.

My mod will most likely be incompatible with other mods that change:
PERK VampireFeed
QUST PlayerVampireQuest

These control almost everything about your Vampire. If another mod contains different spells and abilities they may overwrite or mess with my own, but any change to the above files will screw things up pretty badly. You may be surprised how many appearance or blood/feeding mods change these files ...

----------------------------------------------------------
Please read my Troubleshooting and FAQ page:
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/1464949/BetterVampires/index.html
----------------------------------------------------------

Please help me help you! Here are some steps which may help you find what is glitching.
I know they may seem long/intensive but without being able to actually sit at your computer this will help us eliminate other problems/conflicts to see if it is really my mod that is causing problems.

1) Wait 24hr in game, save, and then make sure you have exited Skyrim
2) Temporarily disable all of your mods (using NMM is best)
3) Delete my mod entirely
4) Re-download my mod but do not enable it yet
5) Start Skyrim
6) Load your most recent saved game from step 1
7) A message will pop up saying some content is no longer available; that's OK, just continue
8) Once the game is loaded, walk around a bit, check if things are OK - remember, all your mods are gone
9) Save your game in a new slot (do not use a quicksave)
10) Exit Skyrim
11) Enable ONLY my mod (I use NMM)
12) Start Skyrim
13) Load your saved game from Step 9
14) Once the game is loaded, feed to make sure my mod kicks in, then check if things are OK
15) Exit Skyrim
16) Disable my mod
17) Re-enable all of your other mods first
18) Re-enable my mod last of all - say yes if it asks to replace files
19) Start Skyrim
20) Load your saved game from Step 9
21) Once the game is loaded, feed to make sure my mod kicks in, then check if things are OK
22) Play and have fun!

If things are fine in Step 14, but are not in Step 20 ... then it is another mod that is causing problems. If you really want find the culprit, enable my mod first, then enable only one mod at a time to see who the guilty party is. Pay close attention to mods requesting to overwrite any of my files.

Please also remember - SKYRIM IS BUGGY >< In vanilla Skyrim, with no mods installed at all, people have had their saved games get corrupted, had people's head disappear, had glowing eyes that wouldn't shut off, etc. It may be my mod, but it may not . . .
